County plans to move money around to pay for bridge assessments after County’s funding request to province denied

Haliburton County plans to repair two bridges without the province’s help.

The county applied for over $1.7 million to replace the Hawk River Bridge under the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund but it was denied.

The County’s Roads Committee also learned costs have increased by $30,000 to $110,000 since last fall.

Public Works Director, Craig Douglas says engineering assessments need to be done on the town bridges this year.

A total of $110,000 will be moved from the road surfacing budget to cover the assessment for the two bridges.
