The Minden Hills Terry Fox Run is welcoming a special guest this year.
That guest is Terry’s older brother Fred. He’s coming on September 8th.
Diane Peacock, the local organizer of the run, says that Fox will be at the council chambers for a flag-raising ceremony at 9:30am, and then from 10:00am to noon he’ll be at the Minden Community Centre for a meet and greet, with a speech at 10:30am.
Peacock says that Fox is the Manager of Public Relations for the Terry Fox Foundation and he travels the country speaking at schools and events.
This will be the 12th year that Peacock has organized the Minden Terry Fox Run. She says that in 24 years of the run so far, it has raised just over $280,000. She adds that they hope to raise $19,000 this year to bring the grand total to $300,000.
