Hydro One is advising residents in the Minden area of a road closure on County Road 21, Wednesday June 10 in the afternoon.
A new transformer is being transported to the Minden Transmission Station to modernize the equipment.
Nearly two years ago a transformer fire impacted equipment first installed in the 1950s, putting the station’s upgrade on hold.
This week, construction continues to expand the Minden Transmission Station and increase the amount of available power to support local economic growth.
Weighing several tons, getting this heavy equipment to Minden is no easy feat and requires a great deal of coordination. The transformer arrives in Minden after travelling by rail from Winnipeg.
The new transformer is part of Hydro One’s plan to invest approximately $33 million to build a stronger electricity system for the Minden region.
County Rd. 21 will be closed between Robertson Road and Caribou Road, sometime between noon and 3pm, for approximately 30 minutes.
