HKPRDHU calls in provincial back-up with contact tracing & management

Reinforcements are on the way to assist the local public health agency with a local surge of COVID-19 cases.

Starting today(Friday), the Ontario Ministry of Health’s Provincial WorkForce will assist our health unit with following up with local cases and contacts.

Approximately 4o percent of eligible cases will be assigned to the Provincial Workforce going forward.

The workforce is a centralized case and contact management team that was created within the Ministry of Health to help with the pandemic response.

Its staff includes trained contact tracers and case managers, who are already assisting many other public health units.

The health unit is re-assuring the public they will not even notice a difference.

This is not the first time our health unit turned to a provincial body for assistance in its pandemic response.

Since the end of 2020, Public Health Ontario has also been assisting with contact tracing efforts in Northumberland County, Haliburton County and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
