On Sept 10th, Minden and Haliburton Home Hardware Building Centres owner Daniel Moulton announced the donation of 200 backpacks to families throughout the area.
Moulton has partnered with PIE Education since 2018 and is expanding his participation to families throughout Ontario.
For the past 15 years, the program has provided nearly 28,000 filled backpacks to children across the province.
Officials say PIE Education is a community-oriented program aimed to support kids in government-subsidized housing and social service organizations by supplying students with the necessary materials for educational success, such as backpacks, pencil cases, and other school supplies.
“We understand that economically, times are very challenging, and there is a significant increase in need from local families this year,” said Moulton. “Our team at Home Hardware is grateful to be in a position to support our community, and we hope these resources will help guide children through their school year.”
