The Friends of Grass Lake says an agreement has been reached with Harburn Holdings prior to Ontario Land Tribunal hearing dates.
Friends of Grass Lakes member Don Ross says the “significant reduction” in residential units down to 41 from the original 88 will help preserve the wetland environment to a greater degree than the original proposal.
The non-profit shares the site will be monitored to ensure compliance with local regulations and the special considerations set forth in the settlement document.
They add water quality of Grass Lake will also be monitored, before, during and after development, and Harburn Hastings has agreed to a one-time contribution of $5,000 to help with water testing costs.
One dock will be installed as part of the settlement, and the nonprofit says its area will be restricted to 25 sq. metres.
It adds Harburn Holdings will also not dredge or remove aquatic vegetation in lands below the high-water mark, and will need to plant 200 native plants as well.
The multi-unit development will be adjacent to HWY 21 and include affordable units and single-family homes.
