With the election over, the council in Highlands East is hoping to continue the work from the last term.
As of Monday night, Dave Burton, the incumbent Mayor of Highlands East, was re-elected for another term. The My Haliburton Now Newsroom spoke with Burton about what he hopes for the next four years.
Burton says that he’s hopeful that the council will “stay the course” and continue working with the committees and strategic plans in place from the last term. The returning mayor says that he is going to yet again pursue getting a financial institution in Highlands East.
Burton explained that through this next term he’d like to talk with the council and potentially do a complete organizational review of the municipality. The hope with that review is to see if there are ways to make things better.
Burton is one of three returning mayors after the municipal election.
