CT scans and mammograms could soon be available in Haliburton County.
The Ministry of Health has approved an application by Haliburton Highlands Health Services (HHHS) to run a CT scanner and mammography unit.
The organization now needs the money to purchase the equipment, with the HHHS Foundation saying it will launch a major fundraising campaign in the near future.
“The HHHS Foundation’s current fundraising efforts focus on the replacement of aging [diagnostic imaging] equipment and the purchase of new equipment once approved,” says foundation Executive Director Melanie Klodt Wong. “We are thrilled to see this approval come through and we are committed to raising the funds needed with the support of the community.”
HHHS thanked staff and community members who supported the application by writing to the ministry, as well as those who have already donated towards new diagnostic imaging equipment.
