HHHS celebrating $500,000 donation from Cockwells, Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve

A $500,000 gift.

That’s what the The Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation is celebrating. The donation comes from the Cockwell Family and Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd. and will support diagnostic imaging at HHS.

Officials say it’s the largest single corporate gift to be received by the Foundation to date.

Managing Director of Haliburton Forest, Malcolm Cockwell, says as a major employer in the county, they want to ensure their employees, families, residents and visitors have access to life-saving diagnostic tools when they need them and hope the gift encourages others to support the initiative.

The Foundation’s fundraising target is $4.3 million for the expansion of Diagnostic Imagine services in the fall. Haliburton Country has also committed $1M to the campaign.

“We are very appreciative that Haliburton Forest and the Cockwell Family have made this
significant contribution,” says Tayce Wakefield, lead volunteer for the Diagnostic Imaging
campaign. “Along with the County commitment, this is a strong start for our fundraising
campaign to improve local health care services.”

Officials say the new CT scanner will be arriving in June, with a digital mammography unit expected later this year.
