65-year-old facing firearm charges after OPP investigation in Highlands East

A 65-year-old from Highlands East is facing firearm related charges after an incident in the area on Saturday.

The OPP says just before 7:30 p.m., officers received a suspicious report involving weapons at a residence on Madill Road.

Madill Road at Glamor Lake Road was closed for several hours while members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactical Response Unit (TRU), and Canine Unit (K9) assisted with the investigation.

Officials say the accused, who was charged with careless use and storage of firearm, was taken into custody without incident or injury, and police seized nine rifles and two handguns.

The accused has a Minden court date in July.
