The record has been broken.
This year, the community raised $537,000 for the Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation during last week’s radiothon.
From 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Aug. 15 and 16, morning host Rick Lowes was on-air, interviewing, soliciting, encouraging and hearing stories from the community as the station raised the money.
This year, the money helped gather funds for new mammography equipment.
“Over two days, we raised an incredible $179,093, and with a double match by Richard Muir and Scott & Chere Campbell, our total at 6pm was an astounding $537,279,” shared the foundation on Social Media. “A massive shoutout to Richard Muir for doubling his matching donation, Kim Emmerson from Emmerson Lumber with a generous $25K donation, and Tran & Tammy LaRue from Minden Subaru for pushing us over the top with their surprise $25K donation in the final hour. No donation is too small rang true, we raised thousands from the donations at the locations in Minden and Haliburton plus outside the 93.5 MooseFM radiostation including a pink firefighter to boot.”
